God must've been pissed off, or having a laugh at our expense! A heavy pour at last Sunday's Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix meant that the race had to be halted after just 32 laps. It also meant that race leader Jenson Button from team Brawn GP took winner honours. Yay fer him.
But it was boo for us when the rain started again just after we thought we had experienced the last drop. As troops of F1 and Jamiroquai fans climbed up the hill to the Sepang Helipad for the post-race concert, some had no choice but to brave getting wet while others came prepared with their brollies and raincoats. And so concert openers Twilight Actiongirl, Maliq & D'Essentials from Indonesia (with Malaysia's Atilia) and Naturally 7 performed to a rather moist crowd. But like magic, when Jay Kay & Co. were due onstage, the rain stopped!
It was nonstop cheering after that, as Jay Kay showed fans that he still could execute the very slick moves he's been known for–even as he announced that he was due to turn 40 in December. However, halfway through the show he did seem rather tired out (after all, he hasn't exactly been touring) but did promise a new album this year. We were mighty chuffed when he performed classics like 'Space Cowboy' and 'Black Capricorn Day'. And it was super that he left 'Deeper Underground' 'til the encore. But we're sure he disappointed a good many when he left out 'Virtual Insanity' from the set list altogether–he was probably just sick of performing it.
So didja go on Sunday? Did you catch the race as well? Tell us all about it! Here are some pics we got–look forward to more in our picture gallery soon!
