Genuinely sad news: Slipknot percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan has just lost his mother Mary Crahan at age 64, just days before Mother’s Day.

Arbitrary as the celebration is, family relationships are not. Crahan has had a torrid time of late, withdrawing from recent Slipknot shows because of his wife’s arduous battle with Crohn’s disease.

According to Crahan, ‘That's the thing I fight for most in this biz, is family. I've been married 12 years, and my wife has let me do Slipknot for 10... Family can and is being incorporated into rock 'n' roll. You can have a wife, you can have a child or children and be a rock 'n' roller.’

Crahan is also involved with distinctively non-masked and non-metal band Dirty Little Rabbits, who released their Simon EP earlier this year, with a full-length album coming soon.

Where family is concerned, all bets are off: we at Junk wish to express our condolences, and wish Crahan all the best in coping with his wife’s illness.
