The weary drone of Paul Banks' vocals will now come packaged as Julian Plenti, when the Interpol frontman releases his solo debut Julian Plenti Is…Skyscraper. The Julian Plenti persona/project actually precedes Interpol, going back to random gigs in New York in 1996.
Why the change then? According to Pitchfork, Banks/Plenti “acquired the music production software Logic Pro” a few years ago, which allowed him to make music without the cumbersome mess of having those bloody band members around.
Julian Plenti Is…Skyscraper will hit stores in August 2009, and will feature such guests as Mike Stroud from Ratatat*, Sam Fogarino from Interpol and Charles Burst of the Occasion.
