UPDATE: Backstreet Boys and Chaka Khan at the Singapore F1

At the 2009 Formula 1 SingTEL Singapore Grand Prix, it won’t just be the racecars on show but a collection of huge international and regional artists! Ticket holders for the Grand Prix will be able to enjoy the multitude of talent for no extra cost.

The Backstreet Boys, who are gearing for the release of their new album (it’s still being called This Is Us) will make an appearance, as will Grammy-award winning soul singer Chaka Khan, Singaporean three-man band Electrico (following member Amanda's departure) and Junksounds 2008 winners Rivermaya!

But that’s not all. The man who sang ‘Seven Seconds’, Yossou N’Dour; Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall Of Famer Mavis Staples; and US cultural ambassadors Ozomatli will also perform. They will be joined by Singaporean acts London Fog, Hanjin, Alemay Fernandez, Dawn Ho, and drumming troupes Wicked Aura Batucada and Strikeforce.

And this is just the first wave. SingTEL is promising a fresh lineup for the second, which will be announced in early July. Remember, the shows are for Formula 1 SingTEL Singapore Grand Prix ticket holders only, so hurry and get your tickets now!

Update (24 Sep): Katy Perry confirmed to play at the Singapore Formula 1 GP a few days ago!
