UPDATE: Festival watch: Java Rockin'land 2009

Jakarta could have another giant international music festival to look forward to, as Java Rockin'land 2009 announces official August dates and a wishlist that includes Blur, Fall Out Boy and Foo Fighters.

The festival was once referred to as Java Soundtastic Festival, then was renamed Java RockAddition, and now has finally settled on its current name. And when you look at the list of bands currently being pursued, you gotta agree on one thing: who caaares what it's called. Just bring on da funk!

At this time, none of the above bands have been confirmed. But if even a fraction of them end up coming, and if they happen to have a few extra dates in and around the fest for a possible regional tour, then hmmmm...

UPDATE (23 July 2009): 

Yeah, many of the bands listed above won't make it. But don’t despair! Java Rockin’land 2009 IS happening, and there’ll be over 60 bands (at the time of writing) for you to foam in the mouth at, including Mew, Melee, Andra & The Backbone, Burgerkill, Denial, Gigi, Ghaust, The SIGIT and a reunited Mr. Big! AND Deftones and The Black Crowes waiting in the wings! Alas, there will be no Deftones or The Black Crowes. But in their place comes reunited alt-rockers Third Eye Blind, Latin fusion act Ozomatli and local power pop heroes Pee Wee Gaskins, plus a fresh stable of Indonesian acts.

The schedule has also been released on the Java Rockin’land site, although there are no times inserted. But from a quick glance, it appears that  Vertical Horizon will headline day one, Mr. Big and Secondhand Serenade will front day two, and Mew and Third Eye Blind will close the whole shindig.
