Denial consist of Aji Setiaji (vocal, guitar), Benedict Pardede (guitar), Gobe (drums), Inezs Maheswari (tambourine), Resi (bass), and Ainjia Paat (violin). The band from Jakarta, Indonesia speak of a class war in their Lo-Fideo submission, and they've taken quite a stance against white collar pompousness. If you like a dark, beautifully twisted post-punk edge to your Lo-Fideo, then Denial are your men.
What are you guys up to now?
Currently we're on the process of finishing our first album. Get it done as fast as we can, then we have free time to hunt down white collar bastards and strangle them!
How did your band persona come about?
The persona come out form all the lost souls that we've successfully liberated after we strangled those white collar bastards. These lost souls were trapped and they couldn't make it to the other side because tof unfinished business. So after the bastards were strangled, these lost souls found a new home within our music, and they dance with us onstage while we're playing. They release all their anger through our music.
How would you describe your sound?
Our main objective sonically is to produce a very loud, raw, and feedback drenched sound, where you can feel your blood coming to boil.
What's the story behind your Lo-fideo?
We recorded the video at Paul's place couple of months ago. that video documented our first performance and our first song that we played in Malaysia (special thanks to Amar and his freak music gang). That's the best gig we've played so far. The vibe at Paul's place, and how we could connect with the audience there was amazing.
What does the future evidently hold for Denial if you win?
We'd start planning for our second trip to Paul's Place.
