UNKLE, the duo who thrust the art of Futura2000 and Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja into popular consciousness, will release their trancey ‘Heavy Drug (Surrender Sounds Mix)’ for digital download on 17 August 2009.
Before that, ‘Heavy Drug’ will also appear on James Lavelle’s (one half of UNKLE) GU37 Bangkok, described (by a copywriter probably) as his “most radical and creative Global Underground mix to date. GU37 Bangkok dawns with a flourish of orchestral violins and goes on to deliver on all fronts: original, wide-ranging, cohesive, with shades of darkness and light, and tough, continuously funky grooves. Lavelle’s new mix album is smooth but with rough edges.” Dang! Expectations must be through the roof. GU37 Bangkok will be released on 3 August.
