And the music world mourns. When Lester William Polsfuss, or Les Paul built his solid-body electric guitar, The Log, in 1939 (around the same time Leo Fender and Adolph Rickenbacker built their own solid-body guitars), he got snapped up by Gibson, and changed popular music forever. Paul, also an accomplished musician, died yesterday in White Plains, New York at age 94, leaving behind four children, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
