What's new on JunkOnline
Huchacha and goddamn! We're 3 years old! That's 3 years and 36 issues in!! We'd like to thank you for all the great comments about our new Junk site! We sure worked really hard on it. Blood, sweat and dried up tearducts. And right now we wanna tell you what's new to view!
Wehell...besides the usual music goodness, we've shaken things up a little, and improved and added on plenty of things. And since turning 3, we've embraced our "music lifestyle" sensibilities and added plenty more things to gorge on. Like extending our tentacular grasp on more fashion, photography, art and design, movies and film, books, toys, games, übergeek tech gear and many more milestones in pop and youth culture! (Just because we know that music fans dig other things too.)
Here's a brief rundown of what to expect in the new Junk:
Music
We've never wavered from our commitment to keep you informed on the best music in the region and beyond, from the big boys (and girls) to the underdogs. So we're not about to stop now and remain committed to giving you your favourite music sections.
Fashion
Short of getting a tattoo on your forehead, your dress sense tells the whole world who you are and what you stand for. And you can count on us to help you in that quest to express yourself. Besides, shoes are dope.
Photography, Art & Design
We wanna keep track of everybody's "phart"s. Not in that way. PHART is our new term for all things related to photography, art and design. (Geddit? Photography + Art/Design = Phart). Aren't we clever! From street taggers and lomographers, and everything in between, we be covering 'em.
Films/Movies
We goss about the latest movies and dish out dope reviews on all the best–whether indie or box office–coming out in theatres near you. So you know what's worth catching at the movies and what you should just download fre.. er, save money on.
Books
Ever judged a book by its cover? We know we have. But we dig a little deeper and tell you why some books are worth dissecting a little further. And sometimes even what the pulp smells like.
Technology/Gadgets
Would you trade a family member for an iPhone? If you said, "Yeah, maybe a cousin," then we tell you why it's worth every limb. We tell you what's new, what's hot and what's worth ignoring as we inspect the latest mind-blasting tech and gadgetry to be churned out of the factories of Steve Jobs wannabes.
Toys/Gaming
One thing you gotta love about this decade is that salivating over toys and games is no longer something just your kid brother would do. Given that you can vicariously live out your mythological creature bashing fantasies or collect discontinued models of Megatron, why would you even want to grow up? We sure as hell don't (we don't mind growing, just not growing up)!
There's more awesomeness in Junk as we give you other cool and interesting things that blow your mind on a regular basis! We've got a forum coming soon, and new and improved Classifieds and Event Listing sections. You can also be a regular Junkie by registering as a member and uploading your own avatar! We've got our pistols cocked (oo-er) so we're fighting fit, able and ready. Are you?

@nada thanks for your feedback and we'll definitely be sprucing it up in the coming weeks. as for the large header pic, it's not meant to link to any article - it's just a splash pic that we change regularly and we intend to use it to highlight photos or artwork from our readers.

So the initial question now is how is junk any different from KLUE, from all the 'new' things that are being brought in? I'm not a hater but actually an avid magazine lover and in a time of economic recession, do we really need another badly-put-together mag?
Seriously guys, just take a look at your website.. your largest header picture links to nothing, and there seems to be a lack of thought in the user interface layout and overall structural design. Perhaps Junk should spend less time celebrating their birthday and more time fixing it up, if not I would say your right behind Arena, readers digest, the FACE and several others that have been put to the grave. Content is king and right now Junk is really lacking alot of it, I hope you take this note to up your magazine seriously and not on just a face level.
