Reggae band Steven & Coconut Treez have been channelling their groovy sounds from Indonesia to the world since they formed. Their first album The Other Side shifted 500,000 units in Indonesia alone–a formidable feat for such a niche genre. Their song 'Welcome To My Paradise' hit the global wall of sound, bombarding over 60 countries and earning them success with shows in Japan and Papua New Guinea.

Needless to say, Steven & Coconut Treez are one of the iconic reggae bands of the 21st Century. And thanks to event organiser Mosic Works, the band are finally coming to Malaysia to perform a gig with ten other local music acts!

The gig happens on Saturday 29 November at Cap Square in KL city with Steven & Coconut Treez supported by local bands Bittersweet, Republic of Brickfields, Redemption, Pure Vibracion, Plague of Happiness, Whimsical, Rivernation, Priority, Skudap Skudip and Maddame. There will be freebies for the first 500 early birds and a variety of booths selling wares too, so come for the chilled out fun.

And here's a taster before the gig:

The most disappointing gig ever in the whole of my life!! The blame has to go to the crappy organising team mozicworks. i will never Neverrrrrrr never ever go to any gig organised by them again! They said the gig's gonna start at 2pm..i reached there at 2.30pm but nothing was happening..waited till 6 plus then the gig started..I came there all the way from spore just to watch steven n the coconut treez and in the end they could only play 2 bloody songs!Total disappointment!I mean Steven and the coconut treez gave their best for us for the 2 songs they could play. Organiser should hv let Steven n the coconut treez play at 10pm inspite of watever the local bands say. Cos the main band was Stevens!! Permit habis! That was what they said at 12.30am..We were by then tired of waiting..pissed of and nearly giving up hope. And yeah Bittersweet...The most ignorant, self centred and stoopid band ever..Hope they come to Singapore again..gonna spit at their bloody face..Very2 bad reputation. If they think they wanna be a rockstar and hv a rockstar attitude..go to london or something.. Even OAG hv brains to play only 3 songs cos the time dun permits! Stoopid bittersweet..more like bittershit to me! And they were unprofessional by telling the crowds abt their problems with the soundcheck and they were complaining and demanding the soundman of the lack of gd sounds and equipments. Tell them to go catch spider..Bittersweet can go kiss some apek's ass..

The event was a total let down. Arrived at 2.30pm, started at 6pm.

But, it's not Bittersweet's fault man. If they organisers allowed them to play their full set, why not?

By starting at 6pm, the organisers should have known better and limit all the bands to either 2-3 songs, and force the bands to just plug n play.

I really sympathize to everyone who paid RM45 for the event, even for RM20, it's a total waste of money, and time (we could have done much more productive things in the 4 hours).

This is a setback and disgrace to the local music scene. Would Steven & Coconuttreez be willing to come back again and play in KL after this disaster? Imagine, flying from Jakarta (not to mention practicing for the event beforehand), and to play only 2 songs for the fans? That sucks man, even if they got paid.

And, pity ROB as well. They got on stage, ready to be played, only to be kicked out.

This gig has let down not only fans who paid for entry, but also the press and media.
