Chi from Deftones in coma
It's sad news for Deftones fans. Bassist Chi Cheng is reported to be in a coma and checked into the San Jose hospital following a car accident in Santa Clara, California on Monday. Lead singer Chino Moreno confirmed the news to The Sacramento Bee but declined to give specifics, only offering this: "I don't know everything that's going on–I just know it's very serious. I'm pretty freaked out about it."
The Deftones was formed in Sacramento in 1988. The metal band are in the midst of working on their sixth studio album Eros, to be released in spring 2009. Let's hope Chi comes out of this and is able to perform with the band soon for the sake of all Deftones fans.
This is very sad to hear. Chi and his family/friends are in my thoughts in prayers.
man ... i know nu metal is dying and dead ... but in a coma is a new thing completely.
hopefully he can rocover soon so then can perform their material... :)
i have met him a few times and chi is one of the best people i have ever met ... he, the family, and the band will be in my prayers ... good luck chi i know your strong and will be fine
