Yesterday we highlighted Jaydiohead, a mash up by New York DJ Minty Fresh Beats of songs by Jay-Z and Radiohead. Turns out that Jay-Z is the artist of choice for mixmakers who want to blend rock and rap.
And so, two groups of DJs have actually put out mixtapes uniting the clans. The first is OJayZis: Jay-Z vs Oasis, by three Spaniards called Cookin' Soul. It is no doubt inspired by the verbal duel between the two before Glastonbury, but it actually works decently, with goofy titles like 'Wonderback' and 'Supernova Hello'.
Meanwhile, a couple of Brooklyn DJs named Mick Boogie & Terry Urban have put together a pretty sizzling union of Jay-Z and Coldplay, entitled Viva La Hova. It has song titles like 'Know My Place', 'Science Is Ignorant' and 'Life Of Clocks', and has already been hailed as one of the mixtapes of 2008 by Allhiphop. Apparently even Jay-Z digs it, which wouldn't be a surprise, since the rapper lent a verse to 'Lost' for the Brit band's Prospekt's March EP.
